A 25-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy are facing multiple weapons-related charges after two separate incidents in Dartmouth, N.S.

Police say they stopped a suspicious looking vehicle in the 100 block of Pinecrest Drive around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday and took three people into custody.

A Dartmouth man was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun and held in police custody overnight.

He is due to appear in Dartmouth provincial court this morning to face nine weapons-related offences and one breach of probation order.

Police say the two other people were released without charges.

In a separate incident, police arrested a 16-year-old boy after responding to the area of Bell Lake around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say they had received reports of youth drinking in the woods.

One of the teens tried to flee the scene and was detained in the area of Dorothea Drive and Topsail Boulevard.

Police say they searched the teen and found an unloaded handgun in his backpack.

He is due to appear in Dartmouth provincial court this morning to face four weapons-related offences and breach of an undertaking.
