BRIDGEWATER, N.S. -- The case of a mother charged with impaired driving causing the death of her nine-year-old daughter will return to court on May 15 for election and plea.

RCMP say they have laid charges of criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving causing death and refusing to comply with a demand for a breath sample against Candice Roxanne Moore of Pleasantville.

Moore's lawyer, Cathy Benton, said her client was not in court for a brief hearing today in Bridgewater provincial court.

Police have said the 30-year-old woman's daughter was killed after being dropped off at a home in Pleasantville at around noon on Jan. 19.

They say Olive Moore was standing in the road when she was struck by a van as it left the driveway.

She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
