There’s a gasoline shortage in Nova Scotia that has left some of the busiest gas stations in Atlantic Canada without fuel.
Wayne Pace, the owner of the Esso gas station in Tantallon, N.S. says the gas shortage inconveniences everyone.
”It's very inconvenient for customers, but is very disheartening for us because that's how we make our money,” he said.
Atlantic’s Canada’s busiest gas station on the corner of Young and Robie Street in Halifax was without fuel on Saturday.
“I’m not quite sure why they can't keep an adequate supply,” said Pace. “I haven't heard of any disruptions in any of the refineries.”
The stations that had fuel, including the Wilson’s in Lower Sackville, had lineups out of the parking lot.
“It’s been crazy busy here all day, to be honest,” said gas attendant Josh Gray. “People coming to get their gas before they run out.”
This isn’t the first time dealers and motorists had to deal with shortages. One gasoline dealer said there have been 17 occasions since last winter of gas shortages in Nova Scotia.
However, Pace says the shortage has nothing to do with the lower price.
“At the old refinery, there’s lots of storage,” he said. “The storage ran out. A tanker is due in today.”
