A woman is facing charges after a man was stabbed in his home outside Halifax Tuesday evening.

The RCMP responded to a home on Fisher Drive in Hammonds Plains, N.S. around 9 p.m. They found a man suffering from a stab wound inside.

Police allege he was stabbed by a woman who also lives in the home, although they have not confirmed their relationship.

Armed with a knife, the woman fled into some woods nearby. Officers arrested her a short time later with the help of a K9 unit.

The 51-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The 48-year-old woman sustained injuries to her leg during the course of her arrest. As a result, the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team is reviewing the incident.

The woman remains in custody and is due to appear in Halifax provincial court Thursday afternoon.

She is facing charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public in connection with the incident.
