HALIFAX - Thousands of homes and businesses in New Brunswick are still in the dark more than a week after post-tropical storm Arthur slammed into the Maritimes.
More than 8,000 customers are still waiting to be reconnected, mostly in and around Fredericton.
Nova Scotia was also hit by the powerful weather system, but the province's power utility says virtually all its customers affected by the storm have been reconnected.
A spokeswoman for the utility says a handful of Nova Scotians are still without power, but they need work done by an electrician before their power can be restored.
At the height of the outages, the storm knocked out power to about 250,000 customers.
On Friday, Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil called the utility's response to the post-tropical storm "inexcusable" and ordered the province's Utility and Review Board to look into how Nova Scotia Power responded to the outages.
