A 72-year-old man has been charged with stunting after he was allegedly caught driving more than double the speed limit on a busy Halifax street.
A member of the Halifax Regional Police traffic unit spotted a speeding car travelling outbound on Barrington Street, near Richmond Street, around 3:45 p.m. Friday.
Police say the car was clocked at 106 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
The driver was ticketed for stunting and suspended from driving for one week. His vehicle was also seized and towed.
Police say a charge of stunting is automatically laid when a vehicle is clocked travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit.
The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
