A 30-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed and a man was attacked in Saint John.

Police responded to a 911 call at a residence on Dufferin Row at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Investigators allege a man entered the residence, threatened a 62-year-old woman inside, and then stabbed her. He then fled the scene.

The woman sustained minor injuries and did not require treatment.

A short time later, police were called to a residence on nearby Chapel Street.

Police say a man rang the doorbell and attacked the man who answered the door. The suspect then fled the scene.

The 59-year-old victim sustained minor injuries and didn’t require treatment.

A short time later, police arrested a man in the area of St. James Street in connection with the incidents. They seized a pair of pliers believed to have been used in at least one of the incidents from the man at the time of his arrest.

The suspect is being held in custody pending a court appearance.

The incidents remain under investigation but police don’t believe the accused is known to the victims.
