A teenager is fighting for his life after he was struck in a Dartmouth crosswalk last night.
Police say the 19-year-old man was crossing at the corner of Pleasant and Carleton streets around 9 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a vehicle travelling southbound on Pleasant Street.
The 56-year-old driver stopped his vehicle immediately.
The driver was not injured but the pedestrian was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre with life-threatening injuries.
"The driver was served with a summary offence for failing to yield at a crosswalk," says Const. Pierre Bourdages.
The police accident investigation team and forensic identification section are assisting in the investigation.
