The Cape Breton Regional Police are investigating a weapons complaint that prompted a lockdown at a high school in Sydney Mines.

Police responded to Memorial High School Thursday afternoon after receiving a report that two men with rifles were seen going into a wooded area near the school.

Police say there is no direct threat to the school or its students, but that a lockdown was put in place because of how close the men were spotted to the school.

Police say everything is under control and the incident remains under investigation.
