Residential care workers at the Braemore Home in Sydney are threatening to go on strike.

The 120 workers care for about 135 mentally disabled residents at the home. They are asking management to agree to convert temporary positions to full-time jobs and to improve night and weekend pay for casual workers.

About 50 of the workers held an information picket Thursday outside of the facility.

A spokeswoman for the Canadian Union of Public Employees says the union is trying to avoid a walkout, but it could serve a 48 hour strike notice at any time.
