After a very long wait, money is finally on the way for road repairs in the Sydney area, but residents are disappointed to learn that some of the worst roads won’t be getting fixed this year.

Traffic counts are a key factor in determining funding for repairs under the Build Canada Fund, so certain roads with lower counts will not be getting any cash.

Some residents who are already fed up with the damage to their vehicles say it doesn’t make sense.

“There’s a lack of common sense, and there’s a lack of wanting to serve the people who pay the bills, namely, the taxpayers,” says CBRM Councillor Ray Paruch.

The municipality says it will try to get other roads fixed under a different program next year.
