GRAND MANAN, N.B. – The funeral for Atlantic Charters owner and pilot, Klaus Sonnenberg. was held Saturday at 1 p.m.

Sonnenberg was piloting an air ambulance when it crashed outside of the Grand Manan Island airport on Saturday Aug. 16.

Sonnenberg began his career as a naturalist with Parks Canada. His air service, Atlantic Charters, was started in 1982. The company’s fixed-wing planes had been contracted for use by Ambulance New Brunswick since 2007.

The service will be held at the Grand Manan Community School with Rev. Dana Dean officiating.

Sonnenberg will be buried in Maple Grove Cememtery.
