A landmark building in Truro, N.S. has been destroyed by a massive fire.
The 120-year-old AJ Walker building caught fire Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters battled the blaze for hours, but the fire spread quickly, destroying four businesses.
At least one business owner suspects electrical issues may have sparked the fire.
“I was sitting there. I heard some cracking going on…I said ‘what’s going on?’ and here were sparks coming out of the wire boxes,” says business owner John K. Lynds.
“The lights were on and all of a sudden she broke out. Panels started falling down and the yellow smoke.”
The building opened as a hardware store in 1890 but it shut down in 2011.
There is no word yet on a cause.
