Police say a suspected impaired driver was arrested after he fled the scene of a crash early Sunday morning.

Halifax Regional Police say around 3:45 a.m., officers observed a car speeding with a flat front tire on North West Arm Drive.

After attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver crashed it into a pole at the corner of North West Arm Drive and Osborne Drive.

Officers later learned the vehicle had been involved in a crash with a truck earlier in the morning.

The driver was arrested at the scene, while the two male passengers were sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of one of the passenger’s injuries, the Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team is also investigating.

The SIRT is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia.
