Halifax police are searching for a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted in the city’s north end.

Police say a 21-year-old woman was walking on Agricola Street between West and Cunard streets around 2 a.m. Wednesday when the alleged incident took place.

As she was walking, police say a man standing on a nearby sidewalk called out that he would call her a taxi.

Police say she approached the man and he grabbed her, pushed her up against the wall of a building and sexually assaulted her.

She managed to break free from the man and ran away.

Police say she was treated at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre and released.

They are now trying to track down the man suspected of assaulting her.

He is described as a white man, about 24, with medium length, light brown hair. He has some scruff on his face, is five-foot ten and wore jeans and a black jacket at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
