Halifax Regional Police are still trying to solve the 40-year-old murder of a 17-year-old girl in Spryfield.

Police say Florence Ann Keeble left school at 3 p.m. on Oct. 29, 1976 and failed to return to her Herring Cove home.

She attended a baby shower at a friend’s home in Spryfield on Oct. 30. After leaving the shower, police say she attended and then left another party on Old Sambro Road around 1:30 p.m. that day.

Her body was found by two hunters in the woods, roughly 350 yards off the Old Sambro Road, around 2:30 p.m.

Her death was ruled a homicide but police have never solved her murder. They believe there are people who have information that could result in an arrest and possible charges.

Keeble’s death is part of the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers up to $150,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in certain cases.
