The Seahorse Tavern, a popular and long-standing Halifax bar, is moving to a new location.

It’s now on Argyle Street in the heart of downtown but will soon move to the Marquee on Gottingen Street in the city’s north end.

Owner Victor Syperek says his lease is up at the current location so he’s moving to a venue that he already owns and can accommodate more customers.

Renovation work has already started and the new location is expected to open within the next two months.

The Seahorse has been on Argyle Street since 1948.
