The Kent Great Big Dig for the IWK is a wonderful evening that will top the charts at $1.5 million being raised over the past eleven years.
Much-needed equipment for the IWK Health Centre has been purchased with these funds. This year’s event promises to carry on the tradition of success and generosity by raising over $200,000 during an unforgettable evening of food, entertainment, spectacular auction items and prizes.
This year, the funds from the Kent Great Big Dig will go towards the redevelopment of the Nephrology outpatient clinic, making it bigger, brighter and more welcoming.
A new reception area and waiting room will make entering the clinic area a more pleasurable experience for families – many of whom require frequent visits to the IWK.
The addition of new office space will soon welcome a third physician to the nephrology team, with the potential to grow and expand.
The Atlantic Provinces Pediatric Nephrology team at the IWK Health Centre provides specialized care, both inpatient and outpatient, to children with kidney disease from all four Atlantic provinces.
Many families followed by the nephrology service not only receive care from the physician, but from nurses, dieticians, social workers, and many other allied health professionals.
This new environment will provide access to care teams in one centralized area – promoting collaboration, education and communication in patient care.
The event takes place Saturday, November 9 at the Cunard Centre in Halifax.
The reception and silent auction viewing begins at 6:30 p.m. following by dinner and entertainment at 7:30 p.m.
The after-party begins at 10:30 p.m.
The attire is formal and parking is complimentary.
