Two fire stations in the Halifax area were closed on Sunday due to a staff shortage.

Station four on Lady Hammond Rd. in the North end of Halifax was closed all day while Station 13 on King St. in Dartmouth was closed for four hours Sunday morning.

Halifax Regional Fire spokesman Phil McNulty says other stations responded to their calls.

He adds that this time of year many members take vacation or get sick which can cause staffing problems.

He says all stations will be fully staffed Monday morning.

Two other stations were closed for similar reasons on Christmas Eve.
