A 69-year-old woman has died after a terrible accident on Nova Scotia's Highway 107.

Police responded to the two-vehicle crash between exits 18 and 19 near Porters Lake just after 4 p.m. Thursday.

They say a Honda Civic collided head-on with a Ford quad cab.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene while the truck driver was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

"At this point in time, investigators are not exactly sure as to what caused the accident," RCMP Const. Tony Borovsky told CTV News. "The road conditions today at the time of the collision, the roads were dry, the weather was clear."

A section of the highway was closed for several hours while investigators examined the scene.

Police hope several witnesses to the crash can help them determine what happened.

The name of the victim has not been released, pending notification of her family.
