A taxi driver is facing charges in connection with the alleged sexual assaults of two women in Antigonish, N.S.

The RCMP say an 18-year-old woman told police on Feb. 15 that she had been touched inappropriately while being driven home alone in a taxi earlier that morning.

Antigonish RCMP launched an investigation and received another complaint on Oct. 19. A 19-year-old woman told police she had been touched inappropriately by a taxi driver earlier that morning.

Police say William Roger MacLellan was arrested in connection with the alleged incidents on Wednesday. The 48-year-old Antigonish man is facing two counts of sexual assault.

McLellan was released on conditions, including that he not work as a taxi driver, or for a shuttle service, or in any similar position.

He is due to appear in Antigonish provincial court on Nov. 26.

Investigators believe there may be other alleged victims and they are asking anyone who had a similar experience to come forward.
