Police say a 15-year-old boy is facing a slew of charges, including first-degree murder, in connection with the stabbing death of a 28-year-old man in Dartmouth.

Officers responded to a parking lot on Windmill Road shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 after witnesses spotted two males assaulting another male.

When police arrived on scene they found a man unconscious, suffering from stab wounds. Daniel Pellerin was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers arrested a suspect in the 100 block of Primrose Street in Dartmouth after 5 p.m. Thursday. Police say the teen was in possession of a loaded handgun and some marijuana.

He has been remanded to the Nova Scotia youth facility and will appear in Halifax provincial youth court on Monday to face the following charges:

·         First-degree murder

·         Careless use of a firearm

·         Unsafe storage of a firearm

·         Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public (two counts)

·         Carrying a concealed weapon

·         Unauthorized possession of a firearm

·         Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized

·         Possession of a loaded restricted firearm

·         Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order

·         Possession of a controlled substance

·         Breach of previously imposed court orders (five counts)

Investigators say the stabbing was not a random incident and they are still looking for a second suspect in connection with Pellerin’s death.

He was wearing dark clothing and was last seen running from the area on foot.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
