SACKVILLE, N.B. -- Professors and librarians at New Brunswick's Mount Allison University have set a strike deadline for Monday.

The Mount Allison Faculty Association says the move follows a vote earlier this month that saw 86 per cent in favour of strike action if necessary.

The association says the main issues in the contract negotiations are workloads along with salaries, pensions and benefits.

The university says negotiations are set to resume Friday with a provincially-appointed mediation officer.

The faculty association represents 154 full-time and 56-part-time faculty and librarians.

Negotiations on a new collective agreement began last June.
