TYNE VALLEY, P.E.I. – A horse was killed Sunday after being hit by a car near Tyne Valley, P.E.I.

RCMP say an woman from Urbainville, P.E.I. was driving a car when she crashed into the horse on Canada Rd.

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m.

The woman was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. RCMP say the front end of her car was smashed and leaked fluid over the pavement.

The horse’s owner lived nearby and was at the scene.

Local fire crews and police have cleaned up the vehicle’s fluids and left the scene.

RCMP say the road is open to normal traffic.
