The New Brunswick RCMP say a man reported missing from a special care home has been spotted in Fredericton.

Police issued a statement Thursday, asking for the public’s help in locating 38-year-old Yann Richard.

They said Richard left the care home on Route 113 in Inkerman around 8 a.m. Tuesday and was reported missing shortly after 9 p.m. when he failed to return.

Police said Richard has threatened to harm himself in the past and his family and caregivers are concerned for his safety and well-being.

Police now say they have confirmed Richard was spotted in the Fredericton area Thursday, but that his family and caregivers are still worried about him.

They also say he may be heading to the Moncton area.

Richard is described as a white male who is six-foot-one inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds.

Police say he walks with a limp and was last seen wearing a ball hat, dark pants, a jacket and a dark-coloured backpack.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
