A New Brunswick woman charged in connection with the discovery of the body of a newborn baby is now facing a charge of attempted murder in the case.

Christine Margaret Wood was charged with concealing the body of a child in May.

An additional charge of indignity to a dead human body or human remains was laid against Wood in Moncton provincial court in October.

Now, police say the 30-year-old Riverview woman is facing a third charge, of attempted murder, in connection with the case. The charge was laid in Moncton provincial court on Wednesday.

The body of a newborn baby boy was discovered in a snow bank on Taylor Road near Monteagle, N.B. on April 4, 2009.

The baby is legally known as Baby Boy Doe but became known as Baby Taylor in the weeks following the discovery of his body.

Over the course of their investigation, police received information that led them to Wood. She was arrested in Hillsborough without incident on May 17, 2013.

Police allege Wood disposed of the dead body with the intent to conceal the fact that she had given birth to him.

Defence lawyer Scott Fowler told provincial court in Moncton on Wednesday that he would need time to review the new charge and asked for an adjournment to Feb. 11.

Wood has not yet entered a plea in the case and must abide by certain conditions while on release including notifying police if she changes her address or becomes pregnant.
