HALIFAX - Nova Scotia's Opposition Progressive Conservatives say the government is trying to save money on the backs of problem gamblers.
The government has decided to scrap a program intended to reduce excessive gambling starting next month.
It says the My-Play system on V-L-Ts isn't working and is wasting money.
About 19.5 million dollars has been spent on the program since its introduction in April 2012.
N-D-P health critic Dave Wilson says he hasn't seen any evidence that the program isn't meeting its objective.
Wilson says he's also concerned that there's no support program to replace the My-Play system.
Under the system, people insert cards into V-L-Ts in order to set voluntary spending and time limits as well as to stop play immediately.
