Just four days after the new Grand Manan ferry made its maiden voyage, it has been taken out of service.
The crew aboard the Grand Manan Adventure - which runs between Grand Manan Island and Blacks Harbour in New Brunswick - noticed problems with the bow thrusters as the ship docked in the harbour Monday morning.
The ferry was immediately taken out of service for repairs.
Officials suspect an electronic problem caused the malfunction on the new $68-million ferry.
A backup ferry has been dispatched to make runs until the new ferry is running again, to avoid a backlog of traffic to the island. There is no word on when the new ship will be back in service.
