The New Brunswick RCMP spent Tuesday investigating an alleged threat at a school in Oromocto.
Several RCMP officers responded to Oromocto High School Tuesday morning, delaying the start of the school day by two hours.
Some students told CTV News they found the police presence unnerving, while others say it is comforting.
"I feel kind of nervous, a little bit, but at the same time, I don't know, the cops are here, so they're like, protecting us,” said student Kira Bowie.
Police have not said what the alleged threat is, but do say it was found in a washroom on Monday.
"The details of the message are threatening in nature,” said RCMP spokesperson Cst. Derek Black.
“We can't get into the specifics, as we're actively investigating at this time, but what I can tell you is that we take this very seriously and we'll take all necessary precautions to make sure that everyone is safe,” he said.
Classes resumed after lunch but police officers remained at the school.
"We do know that the threat has passed … and that we have no reason to believe that there is a threat now, at this time, or that there's going to be a threat,” said school principal Donna Shirley.
RCMP say their investigation is continuing.
