A teen is facing charges in connection with a double-shooting in Halifax on Saturday.
Halifax Regional Police say 18-year-old Decoda Devon White of Halifax is scheduled to appear in court today to face two counts of attempted murder, two counts of discharging a firearm with intent and two counts of pointing a firearm.
He has also been charged with one count each of careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon with ammunition, unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle and possession contrary to order.
Officers responded to the shooting at a barber shop on Titus Street in Fairview just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
When they arrived on the scene they found a 41-year-old man suffering from a gun shot wound to his leg. He was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
A 23-year-old man arrived at the hospital a short time later with a gun shot wound and police say he was the intended target of the shooting.
Police later determined the first man who had been shot was merely an innocent bystander, and an off-duty military police officer, who was visiting the area from Toronto.
Officers arrested White without incident at an address on Albro Lake Road around 12:30 p.m. Monday.
Police say the shooting was not a random incident and the intended target and shooter knew each other.
