Two airplanes made unscheduled stops in Halifax within an hour of each other Wednesday evening.
The first was an Air Canada flight en route to Newfoundland from Toronto. Flight AC682 was headed for Deer Lake, N.L. with 93 passengers and crew onboard when it was diverted to the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, landing at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Air Canada spokesperson Peter Fitzpatrick said the Embraer E90 aircraft developed an air pressurization issue, during which oxygen masks were deployed.
Fitzpatrick said the cause of the problem has not yet been determined. No one was injured during the incident.
The aircraft was taken out of service and the airline said the passengers were rebooked on another flight for Deer Lake Wednesday evening.
Less than an hour after AC682 landed in Halifax, a Porter flight en route from St. John’s to Toronto safely touched down in Halifax.
The airport authority said a mechanical issue was to blame for the unscheduled landing and no one was injured.
