Halifax Regional Police are investigating an early-morning brawl in the city’s bar district.
Police responded to a report of an altercation in the 5500 block of Spring Garden Road around 2 a.m. Friday.
When they arrived on the scene, police found a 22-year-old man lying on the ground.
Witnesses told police he had been kicked in the head several times.
Officers searched the area and managed to track down a suspect, who was arrested at the scene.
The 20-year-old Halifax-area man is due to appear in Halifax provincial court on Jan. 7 to face a charge of assault causing bodily harm.
The victim, a man from the Enfield area, was also charged for violating conditions of his probation.
He remains in police custody and will appear in Halifax provincial court following a medical evaluation.
