Four people from Moncton are facing charges in connection with a home invasion in River Hebert, N.S.

The RCMP responded to the residence around 9 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a 911 call from a young woman who said people were breaking in to her home.

While en route to the scene, police located the vehicles driven by the suspects and arrested an 18-year-old woman, a 21-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth, all from Moncton.

A 17-year-old girl had been home at the time. She told police four people broke in, assaulted her and damaged her property.

She was not seriously injured and did not require medical treatment.

Police allege the suspects were also in possession of a vehicle that had been stolen from Moncton earlier that morning.

The accused each face charges of conspiracy to commit assault, assault, break and enter, mischief and two counts each of possession of stolen property.

The 20-year-old man is also facing a number of charges under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The accused appeared in Amherst provincial court Tuesday. They were all held in custody and are due back in court Thursday.

The incident remains under investigation.
