HALIFAX - A suitcase packed with lobsters will be returned to its owner after Halifax police asked the public for help to crack the case.

Const. Pierre Bourdages says a suitcase with eight to 10 frozen lobsters bounced out of a pickup truck while travelling to the Halifax airport on Monday.

Bourdages says the woman didn't realize the suitcase was gone until she arrived for her flight.

The police force issued a statement today asking for the public's help to track down its owner, and within hours, an Ontario woman who owns the suitcase was found.

A relative of the woman had posted a notice on Kijiji asking for help in finding the woman's lost suitcase.

Bourdages says someone contacted the relative after hearing about the police department's appeal for help.

He says officers kept the lobsters frozen.
