PORT MOUTON, N.S. -- Nova Scotia's Occupational Health and Safety division is investigating the death of a fisherman who fell overboard while working on his boat.

The 61-year-old fisherman from Port Mouton was preparing his boat Thursday for the start of fishing season when he fell in the water.

Police have not released the man's name.

A provincial spokeswoman says it appears rough seas may have played a role in the man's death.

It was the third fishing fatality in the province this year.
