Police are investigating after someone claiming to be a firefighter called several Dartmouth area businesses Saturday afternoon.
Halifax Regional Police say the man asked the business employees to trigger the fire alarm as a routine test of their system.
Police say that's not a practice that Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Services uses, and the calls are a hoax.
Investigators say the calls are a crime which cause an undue stress to emergency services.
