A new mother has been reunited with a Good Samaritan who helped her after she was injured in a car accident last year.

Nancy Keller was T-boned by another vehicle when it careened into her lane on a slippery highway near Sydney on March 31, 2013. She was six months’ pregnant at the time.

“I opened my eyes and I was like ‘oh my goodness, I’m in a car accident. I’m six months pregnant,’” says Keller.

Worried about her baby, Keller scrambled out of the wreck and sat in a snowbank to wait for help.

She says she was grateful when another driver who had witnessed the crash came to her side and called 911.

“She held my hand, she patted my head, she said the kindest words just to calm me down,” says Keller. “She held my hand, literally, until they put me in the back of the ambulance door and she couldn’t go any further.”

The baby was fine and Keller escaped without any serious injuries.

As the holidays draw near, Keller says she is feeling blessed to have a healthy four-month-old daughter, Maddy Jo, and grateful to the kind stranger who came to her aid in her time of need.

“She runs through my mind all the time and I’m sure she would like to know the baby is OK,” says Keller.

Keller contacted CTV News in hopes of receiving some help tracking down her Good Samaritan.

After a little investigative work, CTV found her and arranged a reunion between the two women and the baby girl.

“It’s great, Maddy is gorgeous, I really didn’t think there was anything wrong with the baby that day,” says Good Samaritan Denise Wujcik.

Keller says Wujcik told her that her baby would be OK at the crash scene, and it is that reassurance for which she is most grateful.

“So many people just passed by that day. She stopped and she took the time to take care of somebody when she had no idea who it was,” says Keller.

“I think anybody would have stopped at that accident that day,” says Wujcik.

Keller respectfully disagrees.

“There’s not too many people out there like her and I wanted to let her know she did a really good thing,” says Keller.

Kelly says their reunion Tuesday won’t be the last, as she hopes to meet with Wujcik again so can present her with a Christmas card and a picture of Maddy Jo.
