EDMONTON -- The premiers of Alberta and Nova Scotia have signed agreements related to apprenticeships.

Premier Jim Prentice and Premier Stephen McNeil met Tuesday at the Alberta legislature.

Prentice said in a news release that both are working to improve the ability of apprentices to work in both provinces.

He said the agreements are also designed to promote the mutual recognition of pre-employment training between the two provinces.

Prentice said labour mobility is a key element of a strong labour market and contributes to economic growth, innovation and productivity.

Prentice also said Alberta and Nova Scotia have a long history of working together.

"It was a pleasure to meet with Premier McNeil today. We had a productive discussion around a range of issues and acknowledged the benefits of having our provinces work closely together."
