A Maritime photographer has developed an interactive way to teach the art of photography.

Photographer Noel Chenier has a passion for teaching his art, which lead him to develop an app called Learn Photo365, that allows you to shoot, capture, and learn.

The app encourages users to begin lifelogging - taking a photo each day of the year in order to capture your life. It even has a built in alarm to remind users to snap a photo.

In addition, the app provides tips on taking the perfect picture.

“In the app, it does talk about composition and techniques and tips for photographing a lot of different subjects. So even if you're shooting with a smartphone, that doesn't really matter. You can still take really good photographs if you know your composition, if you look for good lines, if you understand light.”

Chenier says many photographers take on the New Year’s resolution to take a photo a day for a year. When creating his app, he wanted to make something that would help them achieve that goal.

“One of the things about taking on a Photo365 is that it is a challenge and I find, with most of these times, when people try these things they have a lot of ideas at the start then eventually run out of them. So the app would give them a new idea every day.”

Assignments range from changing your camera settings, using random objects, photographing people and playing around with light.

“Basically it kind of covers a lot of the general topics in photography, as well as a lot of creative techniques too. So trying different things, different angles, so it really is kind of a broad helper when it comes to taking better pictures.”

Chenier says the beauty of the app is that learning a simple technique can make a big difference in a person’s photography.
