Police in Saint John have ruled out foul play in the death of a young woman whose body washed ashore last year.

Genevieve Cormier was reported missing on Sept. 29. The 19-year-old Saint John woman was last seen alive in the parking lot of the Reversing Falls on Saint John’s west side.

Several extensive searches were conducted in the area in the weeks following her disappearance.

Her body was eventually found on a secluded beach on the city’s east side on Nov. 2. Police were called to the beach near the Anthony’s Cove Road after someone walking a dog discovered the body.

The area where Cormier’s body was found is roughly 14 kilometres from the Reversing Falls.

At the time, police said it appeared her body had been in the water for quite some time.

Sgt. Jay Henderson said a coroner’s report and a pathologist examination have been completed and both reports rule out foul play.

Henderson also said the details of the reports will not be made public, at the request of Cormier's family.
