Nova Scotia RCMP say there was a house party at the home where the body of a 21-year-old man was found in Sheet Harbour.

Officers were called to the scene around 2 p.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, they found the man unresponsive.

Police are treating the death as suspicious.

Brooke Stewart lives in the unit beside the apartment where the man’s body was found.

"I heard a siren for a split second and I look out my bedroom window and there's a fire truck, like three cops cars and an ambulance in the driveway,” she said. “And I'm like, ‘What's going on?’"

The victim one recently moved in, but originally was from Sheet Harbour.

Police are releasing little information about the victim.

"We can't confirm any details right now because it’s very early in the investigation,” said Cpl. Jennifer Clarke of Nova Scotia RCMP.

Police are also not revealing what may have led to the man's death.

"I really can't speculate as the cause of the death right now,” said Clarke.

Police are asking anyone who attenened the house party, or any witnesses, to come forward.

"Really there could have been a lot of people who were at the party,” said Clarke. “We don't have specific numbers but obviously when there could have been a lot of people involved, any piece of information is really important."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Halifax RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
