The RCMP are looking for a suspect after a man was allegedly beaten with a pipe by a stranger in Cole Harbour, N.S. Thursday evening.

Police say the victim, a 36-year-old Cole Harbour man, was walking on Ashley Drive just before 10 p.m. when he was approached by a man who asked him for a lighter.

As the man reached into his pocket to look for his lighter, police say the suspect struck him in the face with a metal bar.

The man fell to the ground and the suspect continued to hit him with the bar. The victim kicked at the suspect, who then fled the scene on foot.

The victim was taken to the Dartmouth General Hospital. Police say the extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

The suspect is described as a white man around the age of 25. He is five-foot-ten inches tall with blondish hair.
