No one was injured but a fire caused smoke and water damage to home in Sydney on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters say smoke was pouring out of the chimney of the house at 104 Howe St. when they arrived around 2:00 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire but neighbours say the owners are a family with small children.

It took about three hours for firefighters to extinguish the flames.

No word on how the fire started but it’s believed it began in the basement.
