The RCMP say the body of a 25-year-old man reported missing in Moncton has been found.

Police say the man was last seen in the Robinson Court area around 1 a.m. Sunday. His family reported him missing on Monday.

Police haven’t confirmed the identity of the man whose body was found, but on Monday they issued a statement asking for the public’s help in locating Stephane Leandre Leger.

Police found the man’s body on the bank of the Petitcodiac River, near Assomption and Vaughan Harvey boulevards, Wednesday morning.

The officers made the discovery after receiving information from someone who believed they had seen the man the night he disappeared.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine a cause of death.

Police say foul play is not suspected at this time, but they are investigating the circumstances of his death.
