HALIFAX -- Registered nurses employed by Nova Scotia's Capital District Health Authority have voted in favour of strike action.
A strike vote held today saw nurses represented by the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union vote 90 per cent in favour of walking off the job to back their contract demands.
No strike date has been set.
The union has said it is concerned with scheduling and patient safety issues as well as what it says are clawback demands from the authority.
Local 97 of the union represents 2,600 registered nurses who work at health facilities in the Halifax area.
