Halifax Regional Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with a break and enter.
Police responded to a home on Connor Lane in Halifax at 5:40 a.m. on Jan. 1. They say a man broke the front door of the home and then fled on foot with a stolen cellphone.
Officers searched the area but failed to locate the suspect. The resident was not injured and police say the incident wasn’t random.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of 24-year-old Nicco Alexander Smith on Jan. 16. He is facing charges of break and enter, possession of stolen goods under $5,000 and four breaches of previously imposed court orders.
Police believe he is still in the Halifax area.
Smith is described as a black man with black hair and brown eyes. He is six feet tall and weighs 220 pounds.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
