HALIFAX - The Boston Red Sox will pay tribute to their Nova Scotia fans by hosting a Nova Scotia-themed day at Fenway Park on July 5.

Jim Prime, a Nova Scotian who has written several books on the Red Sox, says he and other fans pushed hard to have the professional baseball club recognize their loyalty.

He notes several connections to the Boston team, including Fred Lake, a native of Canning, N.S., who managed the Red Sox in 1908 and 1909.

Nova Scotia Day in the iconic ballpark will feature a game between the Sox and American League East rival Toronto Blue Jays.

Prime expects more than 200 Nova Scotians to travel to the game to participate in activities including throwing out the first pitch.
