GRAND MANAN, N.B. - One of New Brunswick's newest ferries will be temporarily taken out of service starting Sunday, only weeks after its first crossing.

The provincial Transportation Department says the Grand Manan Adventure will be placed in dry dock for 10 days.

It will undergo repairs to one of its bow thrusters during that time.

The 82-car ferry is one of two vessels that sail between Grand Manan Island and Blacks Harbour.

The Grand Manan Adventure began operating Aug. 11 and the department says the repairs are covered under warranty.

Earlier this summer, mechanical problems delayed the vessel's arrival in New Brunswick from a Florida shipyard.

The province has spent about $68 million in the construction of the ferry.
