A 23-year-old Cape Breton man is facing charges in connection with an alleged home invasion and sexual assault.
Christopher Charles French of Sydney was arrested Sunday, two days after the alleged attack.
Cape Breton Regional Police say it happened at a home on Tain Street and witnesses tell CTV News that the victim was an elderly woman.
Police have not confirmed that, but they say the public shouldn't be worried.
"This incident appears to be an isolated incident and our major crime unit is still investigating at this time," says Staff Sgt. Reg Hutchings.
French is due to appear in court today on charges of break and enter, sexual assault and breach of probation.
A second young man who was arrested in connection with the incident has been released.
