Another permanent tribute to the three fallen RCMP officers was unveiled in Moncton on Sunday.

The monument is the centrepiece of the newly named Honour Park in the city’s north end.

The sculpture reaches outward and upward, and features three round inverted spaces that represent the lives of the fallen officers.

The monument was crafted by a local father and son team of blacksmiths.

Moncton Mayor, George LeBlanc, says it’s a fitting tribute.

“This is truly a tremendous way to show our appreciation,” he says, “and to remember those who have given their lives for us.”

Thursday marked the one year anniversary of the Moncton shootings.

Cst. Doug Larche, Cst. Dave Ross and Cst. Fabrice Gevaudan were killed, and two others were wounded when a lone gunman went on a shooting rampage.

Justin Bourque is serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole for 75 years.
